Fire Damage
Whether you are a homeowner or a business, a fire is a devastating event. Fire can damage or destroy a home or facility and take a tremendous emotional toll on family members and employees.
In addition to the heat and fire, the after-effects of smoke including soot, debris, odour and ash throughout a building can cause surface discoloration and damage to belongings if not treated immediately. There may also be substantial water damage caused from suppressing the fire. With System Care’s rapid response, further damage can be prevented.
Water Damage
Water damage can occur when there is accidental discharge, leakage, or overflow of water from plumbing systems, heating, air conditioning, refrigerating systems, leakage of rain or snow through doors, windows, and skylights resulting in damage or destruction of property.
If not properly handled, a loss involving water can lead to serious mould issues which can not only devalue your property but also have serious health concerns.
When you experience this kind of damage do the following:
- Turn off any interior water source that may be causing the problem.
- Check water-soaked ceilings to ensure that they will not collapse.
- Puncture holes in the ceiling to release excess water.
- Move household items to areas where they will not sustain further damage.
- Remove excess water from fragile surfaces such as wood and upholstery.
- Call the nearest SystemCare location to help you mitigate the damages.
- Contact your insurance company to make a claim.
Restorative Drying and Dehumidification & Documentation:
This process involves installing drying equipment to dry structures, contents, recording and monitoring moisture levels.
Water damage is a very common problem, it is important to thoroughly dry structures and contents to prevent future problems. It is also imperative that this drying process be monitored.
The science of drying (psychrometry) provides certified restoration contractors with the tools and training to enable them to monitor the drying process as well as help them determine the best drying method in a specific situation.
To monitor the drying process, a water damage restoration technician will begin on day one and measure moisture content in the air outside, in the air inside and in the materials to be dried. These measurements will be assessed on a daily basis until the materials can be declared officially dry.
If you require this kind of service proceed with the following:
- Ensure that the source of the water intrusion has been identified and repaired.
- Protect your dry contents from further damage from water by moving them to a dry area, or cover them with a waterproof tarp.
- Call the nearest SystemCare location to begin the dehumidification.
- Contact your insurance company to make a claim.
Wind Damage
Destruction of property due to high wind is a very common problem. Your damages can range from shingles off your roof, to a tree into your house.
When you experience this kind of damage proceed with the following:
- Ensure that you and your family are out of harm’s way.
- Protect your contents from further damage from water by moving them to a dry place or covering them with a waterproof tarp.
- Call the nearest SystemCare location to assess the damage and temporarily board up the affected area.
- Contact your insurance company to make a claim.
Mould Remediation
When certain building material is exposed to water damage and proper drying is not completed, mould growth can occur quickly.
We have IICRC certified trained technicians who can remediate mould. The removal of mould is conducted to ensure the health and safety of the occupants.
Asbestos Abatement
Asbestos can be found in certain building materials. If you suspect that you have asbestos, avoid disturbing the materials yourself as it can release the harmful particles.
Our technicians are professionally trained and certified to conduct site inspections, collect samples for testing, contain the area and properly remove and dispose of asbestos containing materials.
